OET Speaking practice with an AI patient
You are the clinician. The patient answers out loud, as an interlocutor would. After each role-play you get a report on the nine OET Speaking criteria.
- 10 role-plays on OET-style cards: 3 minutes to prepare, up to 5 to talk.
- Medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry and physiotherapy, 40 cards each.
- A report after each one: scores, quotes from what you said, better phrases.
$19
One payment for 10 role-plays. Start as soon as you pay.

In short
- 10 OET Speaking role-plays with an AI patient who answers out loud, $19 in one payment.
- Each role-play is marked by AI on the five clinical and four linguistic criteria.
- A beta: the reports are practice feedback, not an OET score.
How a role-play works
From the card to your report in about ten minutes
- 1
Choose a card
Pick one of 40 role-play cards for your profession. You see the clinician's side; the patient has a hidden card with worries they share only if you ask.
- 2
Prepare
Up to 3 minutes to read the card and plan how you will open, ask, explain and close, as in the real test.
- 3
Talk
Up to 5 minutes. Tap Speak, talk, tap Send. The patient answers out loud and in writing.
- 4
Read your report
Scores on the five clinical and four linguistic criteria, quotes from what you said, and better phrases to use next time.

What you get back
A report that quotes what you said
This is a real report from a practice role-play on the low-mood card. Each criterion has a mark, what you did, and a sentence you could have said instead.

The nine criteria
Five clinical communication criteria, marked 0 to 3, and four linguistic criteria, marked 0 to 6.
- Relationship-building
- Understanding the patient's perspective
- Providing structure
- Information-gathering
- Information-giving
- Intelligibility
- Fluency
- Appropriateness of language
- Resources of grammar and expression
The report reads a written transcript, so it is cautious on intelligibility and fluency. It also measures your speaking time, words a minute and fillers.

Questions about AI speaking practice
Frequently asked questions
Who marks the role-plays?+
AI marks them, not a teacher. Each report scores the five clinical communication criteria and the four linguistic criteria, with quotes from what you said. This is a beta: we are still checking the AI's marks against our teachers' marks, so treat the scores as a guide, not an OET result.
Which professions are covered?+
Medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry and physiotherapy. Each has 40 role-play cards, and you can switch profession at any time. The 10 role-plays can be used on any of them.
What do I need?+
A phone or computer with a microphone and a recent browser. A quiet room helps, and headphones stop the patient's voice being picked up as yours. No app to install.
How long do I have to use them?+
Six months from the day you pay. A role-play counts once you start it. One you open and never speak in is given back. You can see every report again from your page.
What happens to my recordings?+
Your spoken turns are written out by an AI service so the patient can answer and your report can be marked. Our teachers may listen to check the marking. Recordings are deleted after 90 days, or straight away with the Delete my recordings button. Transcripts and reports stay.
Is this the same as a speaking test with a teacher?+
No. It is practice you can do at any hour, as often as you have role-plays left. The patient is an AI and the report is an AI's. It shows you what you said, where the marks were lost and what to say instead. It does not replace feedback from a teacher, and the score is not an OET result.
Can I try the same card twice?+
Yes, but each attempt uses a role-play from your 10. Your page keeps every report with your best score on each card, so you can see whether the second attempt was better.
Do I get role-plays with a course?+
Yes. The OET Speaking course and the All-Skills bundle each include 5 AI role-plays. This pack adds 10 more, on top of any you already have.
OET Writing Correction is an independent preparation service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by OET or Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment. The role-play reports are marked by AI, not by a teacher or an OET assessor, and are practice feedback, not an OET score.
