What is inside
| Part | In the real test | What the book teaches | Practice tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part A | 4 short texts, 20 questions, a strict 15 minutes | Finding the right text first, then the answer: matching, sentence completion and short answers without reading everything. | 4, with answers and explanations |
| Part B | 6 short workplace extracts, one 3-option question each | Reading the question for its purpose, and telling the option that is true from the option that answers the question. | 4, with answers and explanations |
| Part C | 2 long texts, 8 four-option questions each | Following a writer's opinion and attitude, reference words, and the distractors that reuse the text's own words. | 4, with answers and explanations |
OET Reading lasts 60 minutes and has 42 questions: 15 minutes for Part A, then 45 minutes for Parts B and C together.
A method, then practice
Each part starts with the steps to follow and a worked example, before you try a test on your own.
Built for the clock
Sixty minutes for 42 questions leaves no time to read everything. The method for each part is about where to look first.
Every answer explained
The key gives the reason for the right answer, so a wrong answer teaches you something.

Questions about the book
Frequently asked questions
What exactly do I get?+
One PDF book: a method for Parts A, B and C of the OET Reading sub-test, worked examples, and 12 practice tests (4 for each part) with answers and explanations. It opens on a phone, tablet or computer and can be printed.
How do I receive it?+
The download link appears on this page as soon as you pay, and we email it to you as well. The link opens your own page, where you can download the book again at any time.
Are the practice tests real OET exam papers?+
No. Every text and question was written by our team for this book. They are not OET test content, and the texts are shorter than the real test's texts because they are made for practising the method. We do not use recalled exam material.
Is the book for my profession?+
Yes. OET Reading is the same test for all twelve professions, so doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists and physiotherapists all sit the same paper and use the same book.
Will this book get me a Grade B?+
No book can promise a grade. The book gives you a method for each part and practice with explanations. OET says candidates awarded Grade B typically achieve at least 30 marks out of 42, which is a guide and not a fixed pass mark.
Can I see some of it before I buy?+
Yes. The complete Part A chapter is free. Enter your email in the sample box on this page and download it.
