- Speak for five minutes and record it on your phone.
- Listen back with the list of what a strong candidate does, and try the card again a week later.

Questions about the role-play cards
Frequently asked questions
What is on each OET Speaking role-play card?+
A setting, a candidate card with four or five tasks, an interlocutor card for your practice partner, a short list of what a strong candidate does in that scenario, and useful spoken phrases. Each card is one five-minute role-play.
Are the cards from real OET tests?+
No. Every card is original and written by our team for practice. They are not past cards or recalled cards, and they are not produced or endorsed by OET.
What is the difference between the free set and the paid pack?+
The free set has 10 cards for your profession. The paid pack has 40 different cards for the same profession, so together you have 50 role-plays. Both are PDFs in the same format.
How do I practise with a card?+
Take three minutes to prepare with the candidate card, then speak for five minutes while a partner plays the patient from the interlocutor card. Record it, then compare what you did with the list of what a strong candidate does. Alone, read the interlocutor card afterwards and speak both parts.
Which professions are covered?+
Medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry and physiotherapy. Each has its own free set and its own paid pack, with scenarios inside that profession's scope of practice.
Does anyone mark my role-play?+
No. The cards are for self-study or practice with a partner. To learn what assessors listen for, the OET Speaking course covers the nine criteria in 10 lessons.
OET Writing Correction is an independent preparation service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by OET or Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment. The cards are original and are not taken from any OET test. Clinical details are written for language practice and are not clinical guidance.
