Questions about the mock tests

Frequently asked questions

What is in each OET Reading mock test?+

Each test has 42 questions in the format of the OET Reading sub-test: Part A with four short texts and 20 questions in 15 minutes, then Part B with six workplace extracts and Part C with two long texts, 22 questions in 45 minutes.

Are these real OET papers?+

No. Every text and question is original and written by our team for practice. They are not past papers or recalled questions, and they are not produced or endorsed by OET.

How is the test marked?+

It is marked automatically when you hand it in. You see your marks out of 42, your marks for each part and each question type, and an explanation for every question. Typed answers in Part A must be spelled correctly, as in the test.

Will the result tell me my OET grade?+

It gives an estimate only. OET says candidates awarded Grade B typically achieve at least 30 marks out of 42. A practice test is not an OET paper and real papers vary in difficulty, so treat your mark as a guide.

Can I sit a test more than once?+

Yes, as many times as you like. Each sitting is kept on your page with its mark, so you can see whether you are improving. The link in your purchase email opens your tests at any time.

Do the tests work on a phone?+

Yes. The text stays in view while you answer the questions, and your answers are saved as you go. A computer or tablet is closer to the test on computer, so use one for at least one sitting if you can.
