Getting started

Your progress page

How to read your progress page: Writing estimates, Reading and Listening marks, Speaking scores, and what each figure does and does not mean.

In short

  • The progress page shows your marks for Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking in one place.
  • Writing is an estimate out of 500. Reading and Listening are marks out of the test total, with no grade conversion.
  • Every figure is an estimate from our marking, not an official OET result.

What each section shows

  • Writing: an estimate out of 500 from your last marked letter, with the grade, a trend line, and the criterion that was weakest in your last letter. Points marked AI are our AI marking. Points marked Ed are an expert educator's marking. If the same criterion is weak again and again, the page lists it.
  • Reading and Listening: the marks from your mock tests, out of the test total, with the percentage right for each attempt. We do not convert these marks to a grade, because OET publishes no conversion for them.
  • Speaking: how many role-plays you have finished and the scores from your latest one on the nine criteria. The five clinical communication criteria are out of 3 and the four language criteria are out of 6.
  • Your real result: appears if you have shared your OET Writing result with us.

What the figures are

Every figure is an estimate from our marking, not an official OET result. A section that says "No marks yet" shows one free way to get your first mark. If the page says "Some results could not load right now", reload it a little later.

Questions about this

Is the Writing estimate my real score?+

No. It is an estimate out of 500 from our marking of your practice letters. The page says it is not an official OET result, and Grade B starts at 350 on this scale.

What do AI and Ed mean on the chart?+

AI is a mark from our AI marking. Ed is a mark from an expert educator. They are shown together so you can see both kinds of marking.

Why are Reading and Listening not shown as grades?+

OET publishes no conversion from marks to a grade for those sub-tests, so the page shows your marks and the percentage right. It does not invent a grade.

Why does a section say "No marks yet"?+

You have not finished a marked letter, a mock test or a speaking role-play for that sub-test yet. The section links to a free way to get your first mark.
